The influence of social media and the internet on adolescents’ Mental health: prevention of crisis states and resilience building

The article focuses on studying the influence of social media and the Internet on adolescents’ mental health, emphasizing their use as a tool for preventing crisis states. Key aspects of the relationship between activity in the digital environment and mental well-being are examined, including issues of social anxiety, shyness, and loneliness. Based on a review of recent scientific studies, the critical role of social media in shaping resilience mechanisms to mental disorders and developing prevention strategies is highlighted. The research underscores the importance of considering the impact of social networks on the development of adolescents’ mental resilience and the creation of strategies for actively using these platforms to support emotional well-being. The analysis shows that the deliberate integration of social media into daily life can minimize the risk of developing crisis states. Particular attention is given to the potential of social networks as tools for prevention, maintaining mental health resilience, and fostering interaction and collaboration. Adolescents in crisis situations can turn to online communities for support and advice, helping them feel less isolated. The study’s findings illustrate that interaction in the virtual environment can positively influence adolescents’ social adaptation and mental health. It is essential to understand the balance between physical, mobile, and virtual spaces while evaluating their impact on psychological well-being. Despite the advantages of social media, it is crucial to monitor usage time and content to minimize potential negative effects. The study concludes by emphasizing the need for further research and the development of intervention programs to effectively support adolescents’ mental health in the online environment, highlighting the significance of this direction in modern psychology and psychiatry.
