Psychological and social aspects of unfulfilled lives among middle-aged women in the context of war

War causes severe consequences for society, affecting nations, economies, and individuals alike. The psychological health of middle-aged women (30–50 years old) becomes particularly vulnerable in such conditions, as this stage of life is characterized by a range of significant changes and challenges. Identity crises, reassessment of personal and professional achievements, the search for balance between family and career, physiological changes, and emotional instability can all become sources of prolonged stress. In the context of war, these issues are exacerbated by uncertainty, fear of the future, loss of a sense of security, and increasing social pressure. Tension and emotional distress become common companions for women in this age group, leading to deteriorating physical health (somatic illnesses, cardiovascular problems, weakened immunity) and psychological well-being (depression, anxiety, post-traumatic stress disorder). This article analyzes the psychological and social factors affecting the self-realization of middle-aged women in the context of war. Special attention is given to emotional experiences, the impact of prolonged stress, and the challenges faced by women during this critical stage of life. Additionally, the study explores approaches to providing support and mitigating the negative effects of the crisis on women, considering both individual and social strategies. Understanding and addressing these aspects facilitate the provision of essential psychological support to women, helping them overcome traumatic experiences, better comprehend their emotions, and develop effective strategies for managing stress and anxiety.
