Thyroid dysfunction and pregnancy: common grounds, the mechanisms of realization, management tactics.

PHD O.Yu. Zhelezniakov, PHD N.M. Zhelezniakova. Kharkiv Medical Academy of Postgraduate Education.

This article discusses the changes in thyroid physiology that occur during pregnancy, the significance of thyroid function tests and thyroid antibody titers assessed during pregnancy, and the potential obstetric complications associated with maternal hypothyroidism. Also discussed the tactics of management of this category of pregnant women.

Key Words: hypothyroidism, pregnancy, thyroid antibodies, management tactics.
