The relevance of the study is driven by the deepening human resource crisis in the healthcare sector, the insufficient practical focus of postgraduate education programs, and the urgent need to adapt to new technologies. To achieve the research goals, a survey of medical professionals was conducted (37 respondents from various types of healthcare institutions), followed by statistical data analysis and comparison with the practices of European Union countries. The literature review includes works by both Ukrainian and international authors — in particular, V. Mykhailenko on professional development barriers, I. Khomenko on interdisciplinary integration, A. Petráková on the experiences of Ukrainian doctors abroad, M. Baker on the effectiveness of short-term frontline training, and N. Kozak and T. Halkina on digital learning tools, as well as studies addressing the psycho-emotional state of medical professionals during wartime. The results revealed a critical shortage of qualified personnel, limited involvement of practitioners in the educational process, inadequate access to modern medical equipment, and a lack of strategic thinking among specialists. The article proposes specific reform directions, including the establishment of regional training centers, development of simulation-based education, implementation of mentoring systems, and enhancement of curricula through the involvement of active healthcare practitioners. The findings confirm the initial hypothesis of the need for systemic changes, which would allow the creation of a flexible and effective model of continuous medical education in Ukraine.

Key words: continuous medical education, retraining of Ukrainian doctors, healthcare decentralization, digitalization, simulation training, European standards.

https://doi.org/10.15407/internalmed2025.02.012

Download.PDF(ukr)

References:

1.
