One of the fundamental disciplines taught at the Kharkov National Medical University since its inception was chemistry, which is why the history of the Department of Chemistry as well as the University has more than two centuries. Historically, it was possible to distinguish several stages of development of the department of chemistry: initial, pre-revolutionary, post-revolutionary, modern.In the post-revolutionary period, first the department was headed by prof. G.Yu. Timofeev, after his premature death, prof. F.P. Golev, and then prof. EAT. Gapon, after his departure to Moscow, the department of chemistry for 24 years was led by prof. T.V. Ass. The department of organic chemistry in the same period was headed by prof. Yu.A. Gabel, and Assoc. V.I. Koroleva (1949\u20141954).<\/p>\n
